Lisa L. Jorgensen
Lisa L. Jorgensen was born in Valparaiso, Indiana while her father was at Valparaiso University. She moved to Iowa City when she was three and lived there throughout her father’s days of Medical School and Residency. She moved to Spencer when she was twelve and attended Spencer Junior High and Spencer High School, graduating in 1989. During high school she was a champion debater, ran track and played saxophone in the band. She was a member of the Clay County Conquistadors 4H Horse club and even qualified for AK-SAR-BAN. She was a foreign exchange student to Spain her junior year in high school and returned to spend a year in Spain before attending the University of Iowa. She has earned three degrees from the University of Iowa, a B.A. in Spanish Linguistics, a M.A. in Spanish and Portuguese Literature and a B.S. in Biology. She moved to Brazil in 2000 where she attended Dental school at the Universidad Federal do Paraná. She met her husband Paulo Nascimento and they choose to return to Spencer and join her father’s practice. She earned her CPOP in 2008 and earned her distributor’s license in 2009. She and Paulo have one son, Tryggvye. Her current hobbies are knitting and quilting. Lisa loves her job. She loves researching everything she can to help her patients whether it directly applies to hearing instruments or furniture arrangements. Seeing her patients lead full lives is what gives her satisfaction.
Paulo Bueno do Nascimento
Paulo Bueno do Nascimento was born in Curitiba, Paraná, Brazil. He attended the University Federal do Paraná and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education and Exercise Science. He has done post graduate work in Ergonomics. He was the wrestling coach for the State of Paraná for four years. He moved to Spencer with Lisa in 2007 and earned his CPOP in 2008. He has his distributor’s license since 2011. He works with NW Iowa ENT in the audiology department, programming BAHA devices, performing VNG tests and general hearing exams. He and Lisa have son, Tryggvye. His hobbies include practicing sports of all kinds and hand crafts, particularly quilting. He is particularly in tune with his patients’ needs since he has been deaf in his right ear since early childhood. He has had a hearing aid since 2006 and sharing his type of success with others is very gratifying to him.
Barbara “Barbie” Walker was born Barbara Jo Stevenson in Britt, Iowa where she graduated in 1983. She moved to Spencer to be close to her sister, Sue Stevenson, one of the owners of Quilts on Grand, where Barbie has helped out for years. Barbie married Gary Walker in 1990 and through him became an even larger part of the local community. She volunteers and supports many local charities including Reins of Hope, Shayla Bee and CAASA. She has been working at Jorgensen Hearing Center since October 2012. She enjoys making everyone feel at home in person and on the phone. She loves spending time with her family and friends, as well as with her two dogs, Sadie Brown and Charlie, and her cat, Coco. Her hobbies include quilting and gardening.
Tom has been a long-time resident of Northwest Iowa, moving to Spencer in 1976 when he was six years old. He graduated from Spencer High School’s 100th graduation class in 1987 and went to college in Minneapolis, MN. Tom is married and has three wonderful children. He is involved with his church’s Board of Elders, and is also on the Board of Directors at the Spencer Dream Center, a local non profit that has a free medical and dental clinic, a youth center, a food bank and many other community outreach programs. After intensive studying of hearing aids, and audiological examinations, he started working at Jorgensen Hearing Center in March, 2015. He is currently a state licensed Hearing Aid Dispenser. Prior to that he worked in Marketing, Radio and Newspaper. What he enjoys most is interacting with his patients and seeing them achieve better hearing in both of our main clinics in Spencer and Sioux Center. He also enjoys helping patients in out patient clinics and nursing homes all over Northwest Iowa.
Carol Clark is a hearing instrument assistant that works out of the Spencer location for Jorgensen Hearing Center and also travels to Estherville, Emmetsburg, Sibley, and Cherokee to assist patients with their essential hearing needs. Carol has a desire to work collaboratively to attain high levels of excellent service by providing counseling and education to each of her patients. Some of the things she enjoys about working for Jorgensen Hearing Center are the Audigy staff meetings and the business training seminars which broaden her knowledge of the products she works with.
Carol comes from a large family that consists of 11 brothers. She has two sons, McKee and Collin, along with two beautiful granddaughters. In her free time, Carol enjoys boating, fishing, motorcycle riding, and working in her yard, as she loves the great outdoors.
Denise Seivert is the office manager at the Sioux Center location of Jorgensen Hearing Center. Denise helps coordinate the team, providing assistance in scheduling, in maintenance patients’ hearing aids, and in customer service.
Denise is no stranger to hearing instruments as she began wearing hearing aids in 2014 after learning of hearing loss she had suffered from possibly her entire life. Hearing aids have helped her feel more confident and have allowed her to participate fully in conversations along with hearing everyday sounds that she had been missing. She is very passionate about hearing loss and would be happy to share her personal journey with you.
Denise grew up in Hartley, Iowa, graduating from HMS High School in 1990. She also graduated from ILCC with an AA degree in Business in July 2016. She resides in Hartley with her two children, Brooke and Blake. Denise likes to spend her free time taking in the great outdoors by camping and going for walks.
Deb Severson has worked in audiology for over 40 years in a variety of duties such as evaluations, programming, and dispensing hearing aids, in both Iowa and Massachusetts. She received her doctorate in audiology from A.T. Still University in Arizona. She moved back to northwest Iowa to work as a school audiologist at Northwest AEA. In 2008, Deb set up a private-practice hearing aid dispensary in Orange City before joining the Jorgensen Hearing Center family in the fall of 2017. She is married to Richard Miske and currently lives in Arnolds Park.
Michael Laake is an administrator here at Jorgensen Hearing Center. Mike graduated from Briar Cliff University in Sioux City, Iowa. He has a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a human resources minor and started working here in 2017 after many years in the agricultural equipment industry managing manufacturing functions and service departments. He fits in well here due to a Fourth of July accident that resulted in hearing loss and the need for hearing aids. Mike has always been seriously focused on customer needs, service, and satisfaction. He has a passion for helping people and has volunteered for an ambulance service, the police reserves, the Knights of Columbus, Special Olympics Iowa, and church extensively. Mike and Becky, his wife, live in the Old Town area of Milford and he has four children — one each in Clear Lake, Milford, Belmond, and Hong Kong. He has five grandchildren, and one dog, Tigger.
